Tips On How To Prevent Hair Thinning and Slow Hair Growth

958-212267For most of us, finding out that our hair is thinning out can be a traumatic experience. Mostly, we panic when we see some hair on our pillow in the morning or some hair trapped on our comb or shower drain. Hey, who wouldn’t panic, that’s our hair we’re talking about.

First of all, there is no need to worry, it is fine to lose a few hair strands here and there. Typically, we shed about 80 to 100 hair strands per day. Now that’s a lot of hair, but believe it or not, that’s normal.  Hair loss is considered only if more than 100 hair strands shed off.

But hair thinning and hair loss can be a serious problem when we come of age. So it is best to keep our hair growing healthy to prevent or slow down the progress of hair loss.  Below are some hair growth tips to keep your hair healthy and thick.

Good Diet

Good nutrition is vital for hair growth. Our hair is mostly made of a protein called keratin, so it is important to consume the right amounts of protein daily. Foods rich in protein are: soya beans, lentils, milk, cheese and lean meat from pork, beef and chicken.

Scalp Massage

Massaging the scalp a few minutes a day help improve blood circulation, improved circulation means more nutrients and oxygen reaching the scalp; hence, faster hair growth.

Keep Your Hair and Scalp Clean

A clean scalp and hair makes it ideal for hair growth. Our skin have special glands called sebaceous glands that produce sebum. Sebum is a special oil that naturally condition the skin and hair. But too much sebum can make the hair really oily and greasy. On the scalp, over production of sebum can harden obstructing the natural growth of hair, also the hardened sebum can be a medium for bacterial and fungal growth.
