We all want to have lovely beautiful hair and the secret to attaining this is healthy hair growth. Our hair needs to be strong and tough as it grows from the roots and it has to be soft, silky and slippery as it grows long so that to avoid any tangles and hair breakage.
Of course, your hair won’t grow healthy if you’re not taking care of yourself or your hair, below are some tips on how to maximise your hair growth.
Nothing can grow hair better than a nutritious meal. Our hair producing cells are considered one the fastest growing cells in the body. In order to produce hair, these cells need a constant supply of nutrients, especially protein. Basically, our hair is mostly made of a protein called keratin, the same protein found in our skin and nails. So it is important to consume the right amounts of protein daily. Food rich in protein are: milk, cheese, lentils, soya beans, fish and lean meats from pork, beef and chicken.
Hygiene is also very important in keeping our hair healthy. Underneath our skin, there are glands called sebaceous glands constantly produce a special oil called sebum. This oil acts as a natural skin and hair conditioner, which does a really good job at moisturizing the skin and hair. If not regularly washed, sebum accumulation can make hair greasy which can be a magnet to dust and dirt floating in the air. This dust and oil accumulation can also be a good medium for bacterial and fungal growth.
Daily exercise will not only help you stay fit, it help promote healthy hair growth too. Exercise increases blood flow to all parts of the body, this includes the scalp. Increased blood flow means more nutrients and oxygen are being delivered to the scalp; hence , improving hair growth.
